A Narrow Escape

Surfing the 'net I was able to find that the Ivy League all-stars defeated Japan, 24-20, last night after trailing by three points in the third quarter.

Green Alert Take: Given that a lot of the FCS fandom outside of the northeast doesn't seem to think much of Ivy League football it's a good thing the Ivies were able to pull this one out.

Green Alert Take II: Sure wish the Ivy League website had a recap of the game when we got up this morning. Fortunately, after having just the score on Twitter at 8 a.m., there's a teeny bit more now:

By the way, the Ivy did post this on Friday:

Thanks in large part to the great interest in the Ivy League's experience in Japan throughout this week, the league has partnered with Japan's National Football Association to air delayed broadcast of the U.S.-Japan Dream Bowl in the United States next week. . . .

The game will air in Japan a via a delayed broadcast. In the U.S., the game will be shown on ESPN+. More information, including date and time, will be announced in the coming days.

From an XFL Newsroom story headlined, Breaking Down The Seattle Sea Dragons 2023 XFL Roster (LINK):

Niko Lalos is an exciting prospect for the team. Lalos has spent plenty of time in the NFL over the past few years. In fact, he was picked up by the New Orleans Saints after being drafted by Seattle. Now, he returns to the team with the NFL season complete. Lalos was a standout at Dartmouth College, getting better with each passing year.

Prospective grad transfer wide receiver Jamal Cooney Tweeted pictures of himself trying on a Jacksonville State uniform on his recruiting visit (LINK) but he's still at Dartmouth and has joined the Big Green track team. He's on the track roster HERE and has appeared in the last two meets.

He was fifth in the 60-meter dash at 7.09 in yesterday’s meet with Columbia and Yale at Leverone Field House. He placed sixth in the 200 at 22.72 and ran the third leg of the “A” 4x400 relay that finished second in 3:18.87.

EXTRA POINT
It's yet another in a string of overcast days here in northern New England. Our solar tracker can still collect some energy when it's cloudy but it will be interesting to see if it is enough to cover our usage this month. Since we had the tracker installed we haven't had a single month when our electric bill is anything more than fees and taxes, but I'm starting to wonder if that will change this month. Maybe it's a good thing we're not driving and charging the EV much this winter!
