In The News

In the aftermath of the Damar Hamlin situation, CBS News Boston did a story headlined, Question Everything: What's being done to improve athlete safety? Find the full story and video HERE or just jump ahead to the 2:05 mark of the video below to hear Joe McLaughlin, president and CEO of MVP Robotics, talk about the benefits of the tackling dummy pioneered by Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens. The video includes a few clips from Memorial Field.

The FCS championship game Sunday afternoon was lopsided, but nowhere near the mismatch we saw last night. In the aftermath of South Dakota State's 45-21 dismantling of the legendary North Dakota State program, STATS and the Coaches have issued their final Top-25 polls in the subdivision. Clearly the coaches are showing more respect for the Ivy League:

EXTRA POINT
Mrs. BGA's final day at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center was last Friday, so what was she doing back in her office for 10 hours on Saturday? She was finishing up clearing 37 years of accumulated files and paperwork in her former office. For weeks she'd been pecking away at it but healthcare doesn't stop just because you are retiring, and so she never quite had the time to finish putting things in order. To that end, she spent all day yesterday with her old work laptop going through email files before her access is completely shut off. And she's headed back to DHMC this morning to cart out the last of her boxes.

This morning she walked into the BGA World Headquarters lugging a tome called Primary Care: Interprofessional Collaborative Practice, over which she has agonized every few years updating a chapter she wrote on diabetes. Looking around for a place to put the book we ended up agreeing that the perfect location would be right next to the ESPN College Football Encyclopedia, for which I wrote the Ivy League chapter. Given that my hardcover football book is 1,627 pages and her paperback medical book is a slim 1,485, I believe I have bragging rights. What I probably should not mention is that the updated 6th edition of her book is selling for $115.64 on Amazon (LINK) and my aging ESPN book is available on Amazon these days for $17.63 (LINK).
