A Big Green Reunion In SoCal

Former Dartmouth teammates Matt Kaskey '19 of the Chargers and Niko Lalos '20 of the Saints in a  screen grab from last night's game shared by a BGA reader.

It's hard for an offensive lineman like Matt Kaskey to end up in the highlights but not so for a defensive end when he has the kind of game Niko Lalos had last night against Kaskey and the Chargers. Here's what the Saints Wire had to say (
LINK):

Three cheers for Niko Lalos — that’s how many sacks the backup defensive end had in this game. Lalos had a standout pe5formance, totaling 5 tackles (4 solo, 4 tackles for loss) along with his 3 sacks and 3 quarterback hits, plus 1 pass deflection. He was a tough out for the Chargers offensive tackles in the second half. If he wants to earn a roster spot, big performances like this are his best shot at it.

Watch his sacks and batted pass here:

Find a brief story about Lalos HERE.

Earlier in the day the Saints organization issued this Tweet post:

Here's a still shot from that posting:

Green Alert Take: Beyond the message sent by Lalos wearing the shirt, it was the fact that the Saints posted that to social media that was touching.

Dartmouth holds its third practice of the preseason, second on Blackman Fields and first in shoulder pads this afternoon and there will be full coverage tonight on BGA Premium. Seriously, if you haven't signed up yet you are falling behind and there's going to be a quiz. To sign up, renew or just learn more about BGA, CLICK HERE.

Here's a shot I took at yesterday's practice as two of the big freshmen cooled off in different ways:

That's Cam Davenport on the left and Godson Ajoku on the right. And yes, they are big. Davenport is listed at 6-3, 355 and Ajoku at 6-5, 345.

EXTRA POINT
I enjoy podcasts when I'm hiking, mowing the lawn or driving to practice and a couple of days ago I called up David Pogue's Unsung Science podcast and listened to him wax poetic in an episode entitled, The Pulse-Pounding Origin Story of USB-C. If you, like me, have a rats nest of power plugs for your electronic devices – various USB cables, Lightning cables, micro-usb cables and more – this is a must-listen. From the teaser for the episode:

This single, tiny connector can carry power, video, audio, and data between electronic gadgets—simultaneously. It can replace a laptop’s power cord, USB jacks, video output jack, and headphone jack. The connector is symmetrical, so you can’t insert it upside-down. It’s identical end for end, too, so it doesn’t matter which end you grab first. USB-C has the potential to charge your gadget faster and transfer data faster than what’s come before, too. And the brand doesn’t matter. My Samsung USB-C cable can charge your Apple MacBook and his Surface tablet. The only question left: Where did it come from? Who invented it? And why?

I've listened to every episode of Unsung Science and heartily recommend it. Listen to The Power of an Empty Metal Box and learn about how the shipping containers you see on trains and the highway came about and oh by the way, helped China become a super power. The Million-Dollar Toothpaste Tube explains how those things became recyclable and why that's so important. I made sure Mrs. BGA listened to What if Placebos ARE the Medicine? Hint: Some are. How about, NASA Redirects an Asteroid and How the Fitbit Knows You’re Dreaming? Even if you aren't a science person – which I'm not – Unsung Science is a great listen.
