Rooting around the Dartmouth football website you can find a link to Quick Facts. Among the facts offered on the page about this year's team:

• The Big Green has 47 returning lettermen and said goodbye to 27.

• There are 14 returning starters, with 13 moving on.

• The returning starters: 7 offense, 4 defense, 3 special teams.

• The starters lost: 4 offense, seven defense, 2 special teams.

Green Alert Take: Fifth-year safety Quinten Arello knows what the numbers say about just four starters back on defense, but he has his own opinion about that. Check out what he had to say in last night's BGA Premium practice story.

This is fun:

That's former Dartmouth receiver Dale Chesson '23, whose brother Jehu was a standout receiver for the Wolverines and a Kansas City Chiefs' draft pick. Find Dale's Michigan bio as a grad transfer HERE.

The Analyst, which does a fine job with FCS football, picks Week One Dartmouth opponent New Hampshire to finish second in the top-heavy 15-team CAA this fall. Here's the UNH capsule from the site (LINK):

New Hampshire (9-4, 7-1; preseason No. 11 ranking) – Like fellow 2022 co-champion W&M, UNH has a sack-happy duo in defensive ends Josiah Silver (38 tackles for loss, 21 sacks in last two seasons) and Dylan Ruiz (14.5 TFLs, CAA-high 12 sacks last season). Running back/returner Dylan Laube was the FCS leader in all-purpose yards, and third-year starting QB Max Brosmer passed for 3,154 yards and 27 TDs a year ago.

And Dartmouth will be challenged to stop one of the five "Players to Watch" in the league:

Dylan Laube, RB/RS, New Hampshire (Walter Payton Award preseason nominee) – The FCS leader in all-purpose yards per game (194) set a single-game FCS postseason record with 424 yards against Fordham.

EXTRA POINT

That Certain Nittany Lion '16 got four new tires on his RAV4 yesterday. When I heard how much they cost I found myself second-guessing our push to put more miles on our EV in order to get it over the threshold to allow it to be fully charged as noted in this space Sunday. While I'm looking forward to charging to 100 percent for the first time in more than two years, I'm most assuredly not looking forward to the time when I have to buy four new tires. Yikes.
