The Countdown Continues

Welcome to August! A reminder that Dartmouth preseason camp begins two weeks from Saturday and, as has been the case since 2005, I'll be there and have a full report up on BGA Premium that night. Oh yeah, and detailed opponent previews kick off one week from tomorrow.

A headline from 247Sports: NFF's Campbell Trophy Summit Inspires Attendees with Lessons of Leadership; The Campbell Trophy Summit took place July 27-29 and was filled with notable names from college football and the entrepreneurial world in attendance. Per the story,:

"This year's attendees represented 155 colleges and universities from all divisions, and their current careers ranged from doctors, engineers, lawyers, physicists and business and civic leaders. They carried an average GPA in college of 3.65."

Dartmouth had five past nominees in attendance, the most of any Ivy League school

• WR Jay Barnard '04
• OL Evan Hecimovich '21
• QB Jack Heneghan '18
• OL Kevin Noone '03
• LB Michael Runger '14

In April former Dartmouth pass rusher Shane Cokes '23 Tweeted a photo of himself posing with a Ford Edge that he was driving thanks to a Colorado auto dealer. At 6-foot-3, and north of 275 pounds, Cokes can fill up a vehicle. These days the Colorado Buffalo defensive lineman is driving around in something a little larger, per his Twitter X account:

This very basic introduction to Dartmouth might make some people familiar with the college chuckle, but it would be a very good primer for some of the high schoolers who may not know Dartmouth College from Dartmyth University before they attend a camp in Hanover or meet a Big Green coach:

EXTRA POINT
What has happened to phone "booths" since cell phones became ubiquitous? Most have probably been torn out. This one, which as a cell phone holdout I've used many times, is on the side of a convenience store on Hanover's Main Street. It has either been repurposed or that's the strangest looking phone I've ever seen.
