And Another

To the list of Dartmouth commits add the name Gergely Hudák, a 6-foot-6, 225-pound tight end from Hungary via Kenston Forest School and Blackstone, Va..
Hudák, who had 41 catches for 933 yards (22.8 per) and 13 touchdowns in 10 games last fall, chose Dartmouth over a preferred walk-on at Old Dominion and a scholarship offer from Maine.

Find a scouting report on him from Europe's Elite HERE. Check out his highlights from Hungary HERE. To learn more about his football club in Hungary click HERE.

The new tight end from Hungary joins a Dartmouth team that is taking on an international flavor with two players from Germany (offensive lineman Konstantin Spörk and linebacker Nico Schwikal) and two from Nigeria (offensive lineman Godson Ajoku and incoming offensive lineman Anthony Ndika) and has had several Canadians in recent years.

On his Xwitter account, former wide receiver Jamal Cooney '23 wrote:

in the 170 club!! 40 laser coming Next week. Opted out this season to get my weight up and speed into the 4.3’s! I was previously 150 even. 20 pounds later we’re more powerful and faster than ever

Apparently, someone was listening as he announced he'll be back on the field in the fall with the Albany Great Danes, who went to the FCS semifinals last season. Per his social media, he may have two years of eligibility after lettering at Dartmouth in 2019 and 2021.

Cooney first committed to grad transfer to Missouri State per this story (LINK).

Former Cooney teammate John Paul Flores '22 is headed to Japan with the Ivy League (minus Yale) team but in the meantime now has fielded an offer from Tulsa. The offensive lineman played for one year at Virginia and last fall at Louisville.

EXTRA POINT
Just as Mrs. BGA and I were about to hit the trail yesterday there was a hint of snow, so little that I wasn't sure if it might have blown off a tree rather than fallen from the sky. Midway to the summit there was light snow. When we got there, however, it was a full-blown whiteout. The wind was absolutely howling and it was impossible to see anything. By the time we were halfway down the mountain there were just a few flakes and when we got to our car it had stopped entirely.

As we turned into our driveway five minutes later we glanced back at the mountain we had just come off and were surprised to see the sun peeking through over it.

It was only after we got in the house that we learned we had missed one of these alerts that Mrs. BGA eventually saw on her phone:

Snow Squall Warnings (SQWs) are brief (30-60 minutes) warnings issued for short duration intense bursts of snow & wind leading to whiteout visibility & possible flash freezes on roads. All NWS Weather Forecast Offices have implemented the use of Impact-Based Warning (IBW) Tags for SQWs for the Winter 2023-2024 season.
