Fitting Tribute

#

Well done fellas . . .

#

When I was at the newspaper we used to look long and hard for ways to "localize" events like the Super Bowl and the national championship game. If our local daily had been interested in doing that for last night's game, it would have been a layup, with connections of a sort on both teams.

Grad transfer Dale Chesson '23 didn't see any game time this year as a walk-on Michigan wide receiver, but he got some screen time last night heading into the locker room at halftime. Find his Michigan bio HERE and his Dartmouth bio HERE.

On the Washington side, junior tight end Sean Harmon's mother, Kim, is the head team physician for the Washington Huskies football team.

Dartmouth linebacker Macklin Ayers has been chosen to the FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team for the second time. (LINK)

Ayers, who was fifth in the Ivy League with 79 tackles this fall, came into the season with a 3.82 GPA majoring in sociology modified with environmental studies. He's currently fielding offers as a potential grad transfer.

He is joined on the team by Anthony Roussos, a linebacker from Columbia and New Hampshire quarterback Max Brosmer, who has a 4.0 GPA. Find the full team HERE.

Add Toledo and Western Kentucky as a couple more schools bidding to be the fourth stop on John Paul Flores '22 college football journey.

EXTRA POINT
When I went out the other day to finally pound our snow stick into the ground I wasn't two steps through the door before I heard a dog bark. Although the house down the hill is about 600 feet away and is hidden behind a towering row of evergreens, the neighboring dog greeted me with a bark, which it does frequently. Fortunately, it's usually just a quick hello of a bark and then it stops.

I couldn't help but smile thinking about Griff the Wonder Dog. We joke that he barks once a year –  whether he needs to or not. When he does no one is more surprised than Griff himself.
