Old friend Holy Cross, which has enjoyed a terrific run, is sending no fewer than eight players off to the FBS this fall including four who are following former Crusaders' coach Bob Chesney to James Madison.
And former New Hampshire quarterback Max Brosmer has been impressive enough at the University of Minnesota that he's been named a team captain before ever playing a game for the Big Ten team.

EXTRA POINT
For those of you following along, yesterday was a better day than Saturday. On the down side, our little post office was once again unstaffed for those of us waiting on packages that wouldn't fit in our PO boxes.
For those of you following along, yesterday was a better day than Saturday. On the down side, our little post office was once again unstaffed for those of us waiting on packages that wouldn't fit in our PO boxes.
On the up side, a drive over to the power equipment shop and a face-to-face conversation brought a pledge to send a trailer over to pick up our lawn tractor for the repair necessary after I unwittingly and unsuccessfully tried to mow an embedded boulder. The trailer hasn't shown yet, and I don't know how long the repair will take, but hey, it's progress.
Speaking of our visit to the power equipment shop, while we were there I thought to head a handful of miles north for a few pictures to show you something that may be a surprise. Did you know there's gold in them thar hills not far north of Dartmouth? It's true. Here are a few shots taken yesterday, including one of a prospector with a gold dredging machine. Listen to a public radio story about gold in this stream HERE.
