IFA Honoring Teevens

Former head football coach Buddy Teevens will be the Dartmouth honoree at the Ivy Football Association dinner on January 30, 2025. (LINK)

Honorees from the league's other schools will be Mark Donovan '88 (Brown), Nick Leone '88 (Columbia), Jimmy Pitaro '91 (Cornell), Brian Hehir '75 (Harvard), Kevin Stafanski '04 (Penn), Frank Vuono '78 (Princeton) and Dick Jauron '73 (Yale).

The final sentence in this description of the IFA on the association website sounds as if it was written to describe Teevens, whose initiatives to make football safer and more inclusive have been recognized at all levels of the game:
The Ivy Football Association was founded in 2000 to honor and celebrate Ivy League football and its rich tradition of producing many, many graduates who have become leaders in their chosen fields or professions, including government, law, medicine, business, the arts, education, and religion. We applaud how football fits into the overall educational process and college experience, as well as how the game is played in the Ivy League. Ivy League football, we believe, can be lifted up as the model for how intercollegiate football should be conducted.

Catching up on Ivy League media day, here are a couple of clips from Dartmouth players courtesy of the athletic department's office of Strategic Content and Brand Management:

A story out of the American Press in Louisiana has good things to say about Marques White, the McNeese State grad transfer linebacker out of Dartmouth. From the story (LINK):

Micah Davey could be the best linebacker in all of FCS.  Marques White can rush the passer from the outside and drop back into coverage.  Tristan Driggers makes tackles near the line of scrimmage and can race back to play deep safety when asked.

McNeese State enters the new season with its best linebacking corps, maybe in program history, but can the whole be greater than the sum of its parts?

And . . .

White is looking to close out his career with a healthy season. The two-time All-Ivy League selection hasn’t played a full season since 2021 due to injuries.  “I just want to play a full year and do what I can,” White said.   When he was asked if this was the best group of linebackers in all of FCS, he simply answered: “Could be, we will have to see.”

EXTRA POINT
Missed this yesterday in the rush to pull together all the stuff from Ivy League media day, but I can tell you first hand (see what I did there?) that this is spot on:
