Elsewhere

3:30 p.m. editor's Note: Two new postings up on BGA Overtime.

A little more news on the grad transfer front:

Wide receiver Jamal Cooney '23, a return threat while at Dartmouth, had a 55-yarder among his three kickoff returns for 91 yards, and a 17-yard punt return while helping Albany open with a 27-21 win over LIU in his return to football after a year away from the game.

Former Dartmouth defensive end Charlie Looes '23 had four tackles and a team-high 1.5 tackles for a loss of eight yards in Rice's 34-14 loss to Sam Houston.

Shane Cokes '23, now in his second year at Colorado, had two tackles as a starter on the defensive line for the Buffaloes in their 31-26 escape against North Dakota State.

Stony Brook had just two tackles for loss while falling to FBS Marshall in its opener with Tyson McCloud '23 registering one for a loss of eight yards. McCloud finished with two tackles in the Seawolves' 45-3 loss.

Two games into the season at 1-1 McNeese State, former Dartmouth pass rusher Marques White is fifth on the team with nine tackles.

Defensive back Tyron Herring '23 tied for the team lead with five tackles in Delaware's season-opening win over Bryant. Herring is in his second year with the Blue Hens.

And . . .

While actual depth charts seem to be going the way of the Carrier Pigeon as coaches eschew them, the OurLads site does yeoman work recreating them. It has offensive lineman John Paul Flores '22 listed as the starting left guard this week in Liberty's game with New Mexico State and brother Michael Flores '23 listed as the starting center for Old Dominion against East Carolina.

Elsewhere, linebacker Macklin Ayers '14 is listed on the second line of the depth chart at UMass where Leonard St. Gourdin '24 is the backup at strong safety heading into this week's game with Toledo.

Dartmouth preseason crosses the midway point today with Practice nine of 17, the first scrimmage of the camp.

Never will so many teams with losing records populate the FCS Top-25 but that's the way it is when you open the season against FBS competition. Here's how the STATS Perform poll looks this week with Harvard the only Ivy receiving votes. The Crimson would be 39th if the poll assigned rankings to the ORV (Others Receiving Votes) category:

EXTRA POINT
Morning fog off the Connecticut River obscures much of 4,802-foot Mt. Moosilauke as I look out the window of our guest room this crisp early fall morning. It won't be long before those trees turn from green to orange and red. Soon thereafter our views of the White Mountains will really open up.
