Should have mentioned this earlier. Athletic Business has a story that begins this way (LINK):
The Dartmouth men’s basketball team last week abruptly dropped its attempt to unionize in order to avoid a potentially damaging precedent from a National Labor Relations Board that soon will be controlled by Republicans.

Very entertaining FCS national championship game last night. North Dakota State (14-2) won its 10th national championship with a 35-32 win over now 15-1 Montana State. The Bison have won all of their titles since 2011. (LINK)

EXTRA POINT
A note on Daybreak, a daily newsletter in these parts, writes that Vermont's Associated Press bureau is losing its last remaining reporter. In the past the bureau had as many as a dozen staff members. With a little digging I found research out of the University of Vermont reporting that there were 1,446 people working in the "newspaper industry" in Vermont in 2000 and as of last year that number had fallen to 358 people.
I was barely ahead of the curve when I made the move out of newspapers in 2005 to go freelance and start BGA.
