Still Another Garden State Pickup

Days after landing a pair of New Jersey standouts, Dartmouth has earned a commitment from a key contributor to a powerhouse Garden State program that has won four consecutive parochial state championships:

Mikey McMahon is a 6-foot-4, 290-ish offensive lineman from Bergen Catholic High School and Norwood, N.J. He chose Dartmouth over offers from Navy, Maine, Fordham and Brown.

Well-known recruiting guru Tom Lemming described McMahon this way:

Another big-time offensive lineman from Bergen Catholic HS is Michael McMahon 6‘4“ 280 class of 2026. Super quick with a great first step and a strong punch is a smart player and technically sound. Powerhouse tough and productive run blocker. 4.5 GPA.

Dartmouth’s other two New Jersey commits in recent days were quarterback Jack Cannon of Holmdel and edge rusher Will Maloof of St. Peter’s Prep. (LINK)

An independent Ohio University newspaper has a story headlined Breaking down every incoming transfer for Ohio that looks at 19 players who are joining the MAC program, among them former Dartmouth center Nick Marinaro. The paper writes (LINK):

Marinaro will be spending his last season of college football in Athens after spending every other year in the Ivy League with Dartmouth. He has started 19 games over the past two seasons for the Big Green, and he was a 2024 All-Ivy Honorable Mention.

EXTRA POINT

If I knocked on wood after our seamless Memorial Day Weekend trip to the Princeton area with our EV, I didn’t need to because our trip back was every bit as smooth. We came back up the New York State Thruway, hit exactly zero traffic, and needed just a 20-minute stop in Albany to recharge. If “range anxiety” is keeping you from going electric but your car has very fast charging capability like our Ionic 5, and you do a little planning, a trip like this can be a breeze. And to make a 700-mile round trip without paying for fuel (we have “free” solar at home, and received two years of complimentary Electrify America charging with the car) was a bonus.
