Spencer Brown Replacing Butler At Rutgers

Former Big Green strength and conditioning coach Spencer Brown, who was incredibly well-respected at Dartmouth before leaving for Rutgers after last season, will replace Jay Butler – himself a former Dartmouth S&C coach – down in New Brunswick.

From the story (LINK):

"It was something I felt like we needed to do, but it was really hard," (Rutgers coach Greg) Schiano said on the decision. "Jay has been a tremendous contributor to this program, and when we were in Tampa, so we've been together for 18 years. It was just something that I felt like we needed to do, but it was really, really hard."

And . . .

"People don't understand that if you've never had to do those things, it's incredibly difficult," Schiano added. "Especially when he’s a friend, and I’ve watched their family grow up with our family. But the tough part of being the head coach is you have to do what you believe is right, and you’re not always correct in what you do, but you have to do what you think is right.”

More to come when Schiano offers thoughts on Spencer Brown.
