EXTRA POINT
Living on a country road, it's helpful to have an alarm to let us know when company comes down the driveway. We had an older alarm when we lived on the shoulder of Moose Mountain that we had turned off more than we had it turned on at this house because it gave so many false alarms. We replaced it with a new one a few weeks ago and the technology has really advanced. Not only have the false alarms been almost completely eliminated but now we have a ridiculous variety of sounds we can choose from to alert us. How ridiculous, you ask?

When someone comes down our driveway now we hear the first 10 seconds of this:

Griff the Wonder Dog hasn't caught on yet, but he will. When the old alarm went off he'd always run to the door to see who would pet him next.

I think we'll tire of our current theme before long, but there are about two dozen other sounds – some just as annoying I'm sure – to choose from. ;-)
