This And That

It's been almost three weeks since Dartmouth wrapped up spring practice with the Green-White Game, but better late than never. The Dartmouth takes a look at the action from May 9 and includes this quote from coach Sammy McCorkle on the selection of new team captains Grayson Saunier, Harrison Keith and Joshua Johnson LINK:

“It wasn’t a surprise one bit. We’re really excited for all three of those guys. They all bring different leadership styles, different personalities, and they’re exactly what our locker room needs, what our culture needs and what our program needs.”

BGA Overtime had full coverage of the Green-White as well as spring football HERE

Former offensive lineman Jake Guidone '21, who spend a grad transfer season at the University of Connecticut and then a summer with the Baltimore Ravens, is today a financial advisor, but he hasn't left football behind. He's been announced as a staff member at QB Velocity, a company founded by a former Xaverian Brothers High School teammate that uses the slogan, "Where tomorrow's top football players are made today!"

Something I saw recently on the web regarding Jay Fielder had me thinking about about an anecdote NJ.com sportswriter Steve Politi reported in a 2013 column from the Masters.

Having spotted Arnold Palmer with his eponymous drink, Politi wrote (LINK):

"I chased Kelsey, the waitress serving Arnold Palmer yesterday, back to the bar where she was putting in another drink order.

"How did Arnie order his drink?"

"He leaned over and said, 'I'll have a Mr. Palmer.' Then he winked," Kesley said.

Here's why I thought about that:

That's former Dartmouth quarterback Jay Fiedler '94 presenting the National Football Foundation's Jay Fiedler Top Scholar Athlete award for the top scholar athlete in his Long Island county to Matt Kind earlier this month.

Green Alert Take: I wonder if Jay whispered, "It's the Mr. Fiedler Award?" ;-)

And while we're at it . . . just because you can use a laugh:

EXTRA POINT
Vermont is known as the nation's leading producer of maple syrup, so it should come as no surprise it's also known for its signature maple creemees. Summer being as short as it is in these parts, creemee season is serious business in the Green Mountain State.

Believe it or not, there's even a Vermont creemee passport! (LINK)
