Now in its 21st season, BGA Premium/BGA Overtime is an independent source of Dartmouth football news that features a daily blog 350-plus days a year, as well as full coverage of the team from the start of preseason practice through the final game. It also includes coverage of spring football.
BGA's comprehensive overage of Dartmouth football in 2025 included 92 full-length stories and resulted in Bruce Wood being honored as the New Hampshire sportswriter of the year by his Granite State peers.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
Pulling BGA together is a lot of work. A conservative estimate would be that at least 700 hours go into researching and posting just the daily blog each year. Now add in the time it takes to write 92 stories about practice and games, countless 35-minute trips to Hanover and 35 minutes back, at least a couple of hours each day on campus watching practice or games, and the time/expenses that come with traveling to road games and, well, it's a lot. Particularly this year with overnight trips to Lehigh, Columbia, Princeton and Cornell.

Prior to starting what is arguably the most detailed coverage of any Football Championship Subdivision team in the nation, Bruce spent nearly two decades as the Dartmouth beat writer and assistant sports editor for the local daily paper, covering not just Big Green football but the entire athletic program.
He previously served as the sports editor of a daily newspaper in Pennsylvania and as assistant director of sports information at Dartmouth. For the first 18 seasons of BGA Premium, the site was behind a paywall that over the final decade-plus charged $100 for a full year's access. The site provided on-site coverage of every practice and every game – home and away for 18 seasons without ever missing a single practice or game.
Two years ago, BGA converted to a donation model, taking down the password and allowing everyone free access to the site. While not every practice is covered anymore, BGA still posted 92 stories last year, with stories appearing six days a week during the season.

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit this, but yesterday I cleared off a pile of papers that has been cluttering a corner of my desk here at the BGA World headquarters for too long. But I'll admit it because a lot of what I found were notes from you, the BGA readers, and I kept them because they mean a lot to me, and they help keep me going .
Maybe my favorite was from someone who took me to task for not living up to something I posted a couple of years ago, when I took the paywall down on BGA.
The note the fellow wrote read: "For a guy who is not doing it anymore, you are still kind of doing it. Just sayin'... "
I guess he has a point. ;)
