From the Gridiron to the Diamond

I have to run out and do an interview for a magazine story I'm writing but first a couple of quick links. More later. ... Freshman safety Kyle Cavanaugh, who made the Dartmouth baseball team as a walk-on this spring, blasted his first home run in a loss against Quinnipiac yesterday. Kyle has played in 10 games, making eight starts. he's batting .242 with seven RBI's. Also doing the two-sport thing is corner Jason Blydell. He's started 17 of the 20 games in which he's played, hitting .254 with one homer and nine RBI's. ... Surprise (at least it was to me) but Harvard is not only getting field turf and lights for its football stadium, but also the bubble that Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens covets. The Big Green jumped ahead of the Crimson in "stadium wars" and before the work at Memorial Field is even really started it's struggling to keep up. ... Don't be surprised if Jay Fiedler keeps his same mailing address. The New York Giants gave him a physical and it sounds as if the interest is mutual. ... More after I return.
