Reflecting on the First Scrimmage

Individual statistics and notes out of the Dartmouth scrimmage are now up on the Green Alert web site. The Cliff Notes version has senior Mike Fritz probably cutting into Tom Bennewitz' lead in the race to start at QB against Colgate, Jason Bash looking impressive at tailback and the receivers catching everything in sight. The flip side of all of that, of course, is it happened against Dartmouth's own defense. But given that the defense has been ahead of the offense, maybe that's not such a bad thing. Clearly, Dartmouth's team speed is dramatically improved over a year ago.

It was a tough weekend for the Patriot League with Lehigh falling to Albany, Fordham stumbling against Monmouth and Lafayette hardly looking like a world beater in surviving Sacred Heart. Oh yeah, and opening-day Dartmouth opponent Colgate took it on the chin against UMass. But I-AA heads can be held high after Montana State stunned Colorado in Boulder and Richmond shut out Duke. Oh, and there are smiles here on Moose Mountain with Penn State's opening win against Akron. Bring on Notre Dame!
