From today's Boston Globe: "Two coaches who have sent football players to Harvard said yesterday they may not send any more there because of coach Tim Murphy's recent dismissal of a wide receiver and his handling of a transfer quarterback."
The Globe also has a story about Harvard tailback Clifton Dawson. It includes this from Murphy: "In my 13 years here we've had seven runs of over 60 yards. He's had all of them." And this from the Harvard coach: "He's the best blocking running back I've ever been around. I've never seen him get beaten on a blitz in four years here."
From today's Daily Dartmouth: "Dartmouth earned the 47th spot on Black Enterprise magazine's Top 50 Colleges for African Americans report this year for the first time since the list debuted in 1999." Quoted in the story is sophomore safety Casey Frost, who "agreed that students should not let racial criteria become a major issue in picking a college." From the story: "You can't let that affect the decision you make when going to college,' Frost said. "(Because) after college when you try to become a member of society, if you categorize yourself as black this and black that, a lot of doors will be closed to you."
The Dartmouth Review has a story prompted by the announcement of Karl Furstenberg's retirement next summer as admissions director.
