It's Time (To Borrow A Slogan)

Assistant coach Sammy McCorkle makes sure he has the right 11 players for the situation during Friday's walk-through (that's what the orange circles are for) as head coach Buddy Teevens (left) and assistant Mike Hodgson look on.The new Friends tent is set up alongside the south end of the home grandstand. The tent was a result of the gift of Byron Anderson ’'76 and his son Bret Anderson ’'05. The tent will host pre- and postgame receptions each Saturday of a home football game.

Workers finish adjusting the grandstand behind the north end zone.

It has been a monsoon since sunrise (if you could call it that) this morning. The good news is that the rain is supposed to taper to showers by kickoff and the weather should get progressively better as the day goes on. The better news: Dartmouth's FieldTurf surface will absorb the downpour and so the footing will be fine. The worst news of all (for me, at least): Our roof is leaking. Uh oh.

Dartmouth sophomore fullback Tom Brown and freshman tailback TJ Cameron are products of Connecticut's powerhouse Greenwich High football program. Cameron gets a mention in this story about Greenwich, which will be playing a game in Naples, Fla., this season. ... The concussion issue is getting more and more attention in the last few years. Former Dartmouth baseball and basketball star Jim Beattie has interviewed for the GM position with the Houston Astros, whose catcher, Brad Ausmus, is a Dartmouth grad. Beattie, the former GM of the Montreal Expos and co-GM of the Baltimore Orioles, was a finalist for the Dartmouth athletic director job the last time it came open.
