HANOVER -- Asked late last week who would be playing quarterback at Harvard, Dartmouth coach Buddy Teevens gave the nod to that amorphous signalcaller, E. Thuroar. (The spelling could be wrong, but it's hard to tell. He’s not listed in the media guide.)
With all due respect, Teevens has just enough Oliver Stone in him to make him worry about who’s reading what and who’s talking to whom, even in material posted behind a password. And so he has no intention of being any more forthcoming about who will be under center against Cornell (4-3 overall, 1-3 Ivy League) this Saturday than he was against the Crimson a week ago.
Will it be Tom Bennewitz, the senior starter from the first six games of the season who was relieved by Alex Jenny against Columbia in the second series two games ago? Or will it be Jenny, the sophomore who started and played most of the first three quarters against Harvard before being relieved by Bennewitz?
Teevens laughed before not answering the question. “We've had a good week with both of them,” he said. “They've competed and I'll make the decision Saturday morning.”
Pushed a bit, the coach relented. A bit.
“We'll probably play Tooguise,” he finally said. (That spelling could be wrong, too, because he's not listed in the media guide either.)
