A takeout from a New York Times story on new Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris, who plans a "listening tour" around the Ivy League this fall:
(Penn Athletic Director Steve) Bilsky and Tom Beckett, the athletic director at Yale, said they would like to give football players, in particular, more opportunities to play. University presidents have maintained a ban on postseason play for football out of concern that extra games would interfere with the athletes’ educational experience.Green Alert Take: Here's something that should be equally clear. Allowing every Ivy League sport but football to go to the postseason is unfair to one group of student-athletes and completely indefensible. I hope she hears that on her listening tour.
Harris said she was not yet considering the idea of expanding the season for football or any other sport. “I want to be very clear that it’s not on the table,” she said.
