Three at 2-0

Order has been restored in the West. Make that the Northeast. After so-so performances in their first games, Dartmouth's three non-league opponents looked fine Saturday as each improved to 2-0.

See if you can figure out the common theme in these games (and yes, I made it easy):

Colgate 23, Stony Brook 13
With star tailback Nate Eachus out with an injury, dual-threat quarterback Greg Sullivan had 148 yards passing and 113 yards rushing and the Raiders limited the Seawolves to a touchdown and two field goals. Dartmouth opens at home against Colgate Saturday. Colgate official recap Complete box score.

New Hampshire 23, Ball State 16
With star tailback Chad Kackert out with an injury, dual-threat quarterback RJ Toman had 212 yards passing and 51 yards rushing and the Wildcats limited the Cardinals to a touchdown and three field goals. Dartmouth travels to UNH in Week Two. New Hampshire official recap Complete box score. (Ball State had 127 yards of offense including 13 rushing yards.) Muncie Star Press story

Holy Cross 52, Sacred Heart 21
Dual-threat quarterback Dominic Randolph had 274 yards passing and 59 yards rushing for the Crusaders. Dartmouth plays at Holy Cross in Week 5 and adds Sacred Heart to the schedule next year. Holy Cross official recap Complete box score

Sounds as if Dartmouth might want to prepare for dual-threat quarterbacks, don't you think? (And we haven't even mentioned the QBs at Penn and Harvard, who both fit the description.)

The Colgate Alumni Association is sponsoring a tailgate at Thompson Arena this weekend. The options are interesting:
1. $15 All-Inclusive Package – Includes lunch, game ticket and supports Colgate Financial Aid.

2. $13 Tailgate Only – Includes tailgate lunch and supports Colgate Financial Aid.
If my math is right (Let's see, 15 take away 13 ...) the game ticket works out to $2. Lunch, by the way, sounds pretty good: Grilled BBQ chicken, grilled sweet Italian sausage, vegetable kabobs, corn on the cob, Greek pasta salad, New England style baked beans, fresh baked assorted cookies, Coke, Diet Coke, Dasani water. If you know a 'Gate alum, you might want to get on the guest list (-;

Extra Point
Heading down a road in Hanover yesterday I noticed a traffic sign that said: "Residential Area. Obey Speed Limit." Is that to suggest it's OK not to ignore the speed limit if it's not a residential area?
