The Seacoastonline site has a preview with an interesting headline and a somewhat intimidating first line. The headline: "UNH football: Rested Wildcats ready to get after it." The first line: "Heads up, Alex Jenny. They're coming for you." Jenny, of course, is the Dartmouth quarterback and the line is in reference to the increased pass rush by the Wildcats this fall.
The Manchester Union Leader lede also plays off UNH's improved defense:
The Dartmouth College football team, intent on running the ball better this year than it did last, didn't have much luck on the ground in its opener last week against Colgate.Harvard held off a late charge by Brownlast night to post a 24-21 win in the first Ivy League conference game of the season. Find a capsule and stats here. Crimson quarterback Collier Winters, who gave an indication he was ready to replace Chris Pizzotti under center when Harvard played Dartmouth in an exhibition game, completed 18-of-27 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 66 yards and another touchdown. Brown scored a late touchdown, recovered the onsides kick and had the ball at the Harvard 25 when a last-second pass into the end zone fell incomplete. The Boston Globe has a story.
The challenge does not get a whole lot easier today when the Big Green take on New Hampshire at noon in Cowell Stadium for the Granite Bowl in the last game in the cross-state series for a while.
