High School ... Err ... College Musical

Viewers of the Yale admissions video That's Why I Chose Yale continue to share thoughts about the effort. Interestingly, the official YouTube page for the video has disabled comments on the project.

To learn a little more about the video, check out this Yale Daily News story (and don't miss the comments that follow it). The story begins this way:
For a generation of high school students raised watching viral videos and splashy television shows, Yale’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions is venturing into pop culture with a new promotional video — and it’s a musical!
Back on the subject of recruiting ... one who got away gets a mention in a California newspaper blog:
Webb High School's Jacob Waas, a 6-foot-4, 225-pound senior, has verbally committed to play football at UC Davis. Waas was an All-CIF running back for Webb this season but will play exclusively defensive end for UC Davis

Waas, a first team All-Prep League selection in 2008 and 2009, chose UC Davis among scholarship offers from Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins and the University of San Diego.
Should have mentioned this the other day but remember how former defensive back Muhammed Abdul-Shakoor grabbed a share of the Dartmouth school record in the 60-meter dash at the Dartmouth Relays? It didn't last long as freshman Connor Reilly broke it by two-hundredths of a second. The story in the Daily Dartmouth reminds us that former kick returner and tailback Ikechi Ogbonna '06 also had a share of the just-erased record.

Dave Coulson over at The Sports Network has a story about Penn legend Chuck Bednarik, the last two-way player in the NFL. "Concrete Charlie," had the following to say about the modern game of football:
"Players today are over-paid and under-played. I think if you asked them, the players of today would love to get out there and play both ways like I did."
