Westlake High School in Austin, Texas, has been kind to Dartmouth in recent years and now it is sending another player to Hanover. Outside linebacker Ellis Glaw will join Westlake products Brad Dornak '12 and Chase Womack '13 on next year's roster. (Senior Matt Dornak is still another Westlake grad.)
Glaw was chosen to the All-District 5A-25 first team and the All-Central Texas third team while helping Westlake to the state championship game, where it dropped a 41-38 overtime heartbreaker to Euless Trinity at the Alamodome. (Glaw photo)
Find Glaw's 2008 YouTube highlight video here. He had 88 tackles (12 for a loss), 12 tipped passes and four forced fumbles as a junior. Glaw was also a rugby standout at Westlake where he played for former Dartmouth player Joe Daly. Find a series of recruiting photos of Glaw here.
It's hard enough to recruit against schools like Harvard and Princeton, but if you buy what the Louisville Courier Journal wrote on Friday about a quarterback prospect visiting Louisville, it's harder still ;-) "Also visiting will be a pair of quarterbacks, David Olson of Irmo, S.C., and Marcus Smith of Columbus (Ga.) Hardaway. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Olson has scholarship offers from Stanford, Harvard and Princeton." So that's how they are doing it. Scholarship offers!
