Recruiting News And More Recruiting News

The blogger side of me wants to ration recruiting news to make visiting this page interesting each day. The former Dartmouth beat writer in me wants this to be the place to "break" the news. Who wins?

Score one for the former newspaper guy, although even waiting until this morning saw the information on several of these "commits" leak out elsewhere ;-)

So add to the Dartmouth recruit list 6-foot-3, 257-pound Luke Dornak, a tight end/defensive lineman from Victoria, Texas and St. Joseph's Catholic. If the name sounds familiar, it should. He's the younger cousin of Dartmouth senior tailback Matt Dornak and sophomore wide receiver Brad Dornak. And if the high school sounds familiar, it's the school that sent receiver Brendan Holm '08 to Dartmouth.

Also coming Dartmouth way is Daniel Barstein, a kicker from Birmingham, Ala. The 6-1, 175-pound Barstein goes to Mountain Brook, the same high school that produced receiver Andrew von Kuhn '09.

Dan Henggeler of Torrance, Calif., and West High School is reported in this Daily Breeze story about the West Torrance Lions Club Senior All-Star game as joining Chadwick's Trevor Niemann at Dartmouth.

Hunter Foraker, a 6-2, 230-pound linebacker from Mullen High School and Littleton, Colo., also has committed to Dartmouth. He was a Denver Post first team all-state pick and a member of the all-division team at the 5A level.

Ethan Posey, a 6-2, 250-pound defensive lineman, has been reported as heading this way on the BGA blog before, but now the Trenton Times is reporting his decision.

Following up on Monday's posting that Austin, Texas linebacker Ellis Glaw would be coming to Dartmouth, there's a note in The Statesman mentioning that Westlake will be sending seniors to play at Wake Forest, SMU, Baylor and Air Force next fall. A teammate who moved away last summer is headed to Ohio State and another is considering offers from Air Force and Texas-San Antonio. The story also notes that Glaw is Dartmouth's third recruit from the powerhouse program in as many years, following Brad Dornak and Chase Womack.

Barstein, Foraker, Glaw, Henggeler, Marcouz and Niemann are all listed with head and shoulder shots on this Rivals page.

And finally, it you know of any 12-year-old girls who really like High School Musical, they might like Yale as well. I suppose this Yale admissions video is well done, but embarrassing isn't nearly a strong enough word. Be sure to check it out before it disappears because there will be some proud Yalies pushing to have this thing yanked as word spreads about it, and word will spread.

What exactly the people who decided on this effort were thinking is beyond me, but oh would I have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the Yale football coaches saw this for the first time. As a friend wrote, "Well, that takes care of one halftime show for the other seven teams in the league next season."
