Everything You Need to Know About Hanover

They got up to 30 or so inches of snow in some places in Maryland and as I look out my window this morning there are a few patches of bare ground. What's wrong with this picture?

True story. The Dartmouth baseball team spent about 45 minutes outside yesterday on the brilliant green FieldTurf of Red Rolfe Field at Biondi Park. It was cold – real cold – but at least they were able to get out there.

Don't get the wrong idea. There will be snow on the ground in these parts long after it is just a memory in Maryland and New Jersey, but it sure does feel strange this morning.

I meant to send this along earlier, but the Boston Globe had a look at Hanover late last month called, "It's not all Ivy League in this border town." The story began this way:
As the home of Dartmouth College, the tidy town of Hanover along the New Hampshire-Vermont border is a bastion of self-betterment. Quintessentially Ivy League in character, the town also knows how to let its hair down. Recreation abounds, and parents given to impromptu history lessons might be interested in passing along to their children while in town that Dartmouth produced both Mr. Rogers and Theodor “Dr. Seuss’’ Geisel.
While we are playing tour guide, do check out the Hanover Chamber of Commerce page. As you would expect there are links to places to eat, to shop, to stay and to play along with other information.

Aw shoot, while we're at it take a look at the VillageProfile.com writeup on Hanover. (In the interest of full disclosure I wrote the various pieces for this website as a freelance assignment.)

That's about it. No football today. You'll have plenty of that later on. Apparently there's a big game this evening in Florida ;-)

Now it's off to Leverone Field House to watch that certain Hanover High senior give it her all in the 1000 and see what happens.
