Anyone who thinks it is impossible to win on the basketball floor at Dartmouth because it is a rural school in a cold-weather climate should have been at Leede Arena last night. The template for how to do it was on display when Cornell set a school record for wins in a season by improving to 23-4 with an 88-70 victory over the Big Green. Dartmouth, meanwhile, was falling to 5-19.

A few hundred yards away, Dartmouth men's ice hockey improved to 8-17-2 (7-12-2 ECAC) with a 5-4 upset of No. 10 Cornell (16-9-3, 13-6-2 ECAC).

Don't look now but the spring sports season at Dartmouth kicks off Saturday with the men's lacrosse team playing at Colgate and the women's team at UNH the same afternoon. Brrrrr.

And finally, that certain Hanover High senior was supposed to run the mile in a meet at Harvard today but sniffles and a cold derailed that plan. Instead she's going to try to get healthy in time for Friday's New England championships in Boston when she will run the 1000.
