MUD

For those of you unfamiliar with the joys of mud season, here you go. With one car on mud-induced injured reserve and our beloved '84 VW camper something less than an a mudder, we are down to my frontwheel drive '93 Mitsubishi Expo, which carted two kids and mom into town this morning. That leaves me stranded – almost literally – on the mountain.

That being the case, I took a break from a freelance piece I'm working on to check out the mud. It's certainly not as bad as the year we had to be towed home from about this exact spot. I know because that year, when I tried walking on the road the next day, it sucked off one of my 12-inch LL Bean boots and I had to reach down into the mud and root around to find it. Walking today was sloppy in places, but not that bad but the road will present a challenge for a while yet. Go ahead and click on the photo to get a better look. You can even click again to super-size the problem.

And keep your fingers crossed that repairs on our Honda aren't too steep.
