And They Are Off ...

Weekend results of interest for followers of Dartmouth football:

at Duquesne 17, Bucknell 13 – Bucknell managed just 178 yards of total offense (and no offensive touchdowns) with freshman quarterback Brandon Wesley completing 12-of-21 for 81 yards coming off the bench early in the game. Despite the push away from the option and to a pro style offense quarterback Wesley was the leading ground gainer with 19 carries for 48 yards. Robert Owoyele led the running backs with 20 yards on eight carries. Bison allowed just 267 yards including 108 on the ground. The Daily Item has a game story with quotes.

at Holy Cross 38, Howard 7 – In his first career start quarterback Ryan Taggart completed 17-of-29 throws for 186 yards and three touchdowns for the Crusaders. Holy Cross was outrushed, 123-91. Video highlights.

And in case you missed it, from Friday night ...
Sacred Heart 28, at Marist 25 – Central Michigan transfer Marcel Archer ran for 104 yards and two TDs, Greg Ibe added 97 yards and two touchdowns and QB Dale Fink was 22-for-28 for 229 yards and one touchdown to lead the Pioneers.

Also of some lingering interest ...
at Colgate 30, Monmouth 29 – Nate Eachus ran 30 times for 145 yards and QB Greg Sullivan 15 for 74 but the Raiders almost let a 30-13 lead late in the third quarter completely disappear.

at UNH 33, Central Connecticut 3 – Dontra Peters piles up 197 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

In scrimmage action, it was Yale 50, Union 0 with the Bulldogs playing six different quarterbacks. Portal 31 Yale football blog has a story as does the official Yale football page.
*
Brown played host to Columbia in a scrimmage but nothing has been posted other than the fact that the game had been switched from Brown's game field to one of its FieldTurf surfaces. (link)

Green Alert Take:
Those who watched Dartmouth and Brown in the mud last year may be excused for shaking their heads at the memory and wondering why there are two synthetic practice fields.

Dartmouth has its first day off since camp opened on Aug. 25. Still, you may want to check the Green Alert Premium site tonight.
