Catching Up With the Coaches

The official Dartmouth football website has posted a quick video interview done yesterday with Coach Buddy Teevens here.
*
Big Green offensive coordinator Jim Pry played football at Marshall in the early '70s and lost three teammates in the plane crash chronicled in the movie, "We are Marshall." Pry was interviewed about his memories of Marshall in August of 2009 by the Star Courier, when he was Illinois receivers coach. Said Pry in the story:
"It's like yesterday and the movie brought it back."

Despite losing at Duquesne, Week One opponent Bucknell had freshman quarterback Brandon Wesley (12-for-21 passing, 48 yards rushing) named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week and sophomore running back Tyler Smith selected as the PL Special Teams Player of the Week after returning a kickoff 89 yards for the only Bison touchdown. Smith also was chosen a Kickoff Returner Performer of the Week by the College Football Performance Awards. Click here for the full Patriot League release.

The Daily Item weekly football column has a blurb on Bucknell's opener noting that the Bison had seven players credited with carries against Duquesne.

Missed this earlier but the well-done Patriot League Gameday Blog had a posting about the Ivy-Patriot series over the years. From the blog:
In the past three years, Patriot League teams hold a slim 28-26 advantage in the series after winning last year's matchups, 10-8. Since the inception of the Patriot League in 1986, the Ivies hold a 15-game edge (222-207-3) in the series.

A Q&A with Yale safety Adam Money in the Yale Daily confirms a switch in defensive scheme at Yale from a 3-4 alignment to a 4-3.
*
Unlike Dartmouth-Harvard, the Brown-Columbia preseason action was open to the public and while nothing official has shown up (that I could find, at least) there's a posting that gives some background on Brown's 31-0 win. Keep in mind that Brown won last year's scrimmage between the teams and then lost the regular-season finale against Columbia.

The Sports Network/Fathead.com FCS Top-25 College Football Poll has been posted and four Dartmouth opponents (and two would-have-been opponents) received votes. (In the interest of full disclosure, I'm a voter ;-).
6. UNH
25. Colgate
26. Holy Cross
27. Penn
35. Harvard
61 (T) Brown

And finally, if you watched the Boise State-Virginia Tech football game last night you saw what figures to hold up as one of the best games of the year and two of the worst uniform designs. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Check Green Alert Premium tonight for full coverage of this afternoon's Dartmouth practice. The coverage will include the second of a three-part look at what the freshmen have shown Coach Buddy Teevens so far.
