Holy Cross Revisited

Check out the Chu Chu Rah Holy Cross blog for a pretty thorough look at last week's game from the Crusaders' point of view. Some interesting local tidbits in the piece, not all about football.

Down at Columbia, the Roar Lions Roar blog brings up a Dartmouth sore point while asking a question:
What better way to quickly shake off the downer of a loss at Penn than with a big crowd, and big game against an opponent that hasn’t beaten another Ivy team on the road in four years?

The Daily Dartmouth has another mascot story, built around the announcement that even Ole Miss could get it together enough to introduce a mascot. From the story (italics are mine):
The "Rebel Black Bear" won out over the likes of the "Rebel Land Shark" and "Hotty Toddy" -- odd choices, but still more concrete than the color green -- in a poll of alumni, students, faculty, staff and season ticket holders.
Green Alert Take: This should be a reminder to those who oppose retiring the Big Green that a nickname and a mascot are two different animals. No one is going to be calling Ole Miss the Black Bears any more than they call Cornell the Bears just because they have a bear in their logo over in Ithaca. If Dartmouth can't get it together to go ahead with a new nickname (Dartmouth NorthStars anyone?) a mascot wouldn't be a bad idea and it might put this to rest.

How Dartmouth feels about renewing the rivarly with Colgate next fall is your guess, but I'm looking forward to getting a first look at Raiders tailback Nate Eachus, the nation's leading rusher who rumbled for a Patriot League-record 291 yards and three touchdowns on 25 carries against Cornell last week. Eachus was honored as national player of the week by The College Sporting News which notes:
He averaged 11.6 yards per carry and scored on a career-long 66-yard run and a 63-yard touchdown. Eachus carried only three times in the fourth quarter and sat out the final 11 minutes of the game as Colgate held a comfortable lead.
