Yale's Defensive Challenge?

Former Dartmouth President Jim Wright stopped by practice earlier this week and chatted with coach Buddy Teevens.

The Yale Daily News quotes Bulldog defensive lineman Allen Davis in its preview of Saturday's game against the Big Green in Hanover:
“We have to respect what they’ve been able to do thus far, holding opposing teams to one sack through three games. But I see that as a challenge to our defense to find ways to break those linemen and get some hits on the quarterback.”
The Yale Daily also has its keys to the game. In brief, they are:
  • Finish Strong
  • Get (quarterback Patrick) Witt in Rhythm, run game will follow

The box score for last year's Dartmouth-Yale game (won by the Bulldogs, 38-7) can be found here.

This isn't exactly news but there is a significant difference between going to school in Hanover and going to school in New Haven. The New Haven Register has a story headlined, Yale players warned about trouble spots
*
Surprisingly, given the strong start and the return home to face a storied opponent in Yale, there is no football preview I could find in the Daily Dartmouth, but there is a column about giving fantasy football a shot with Dartmouth players.
*
The Harvard Crimson has a story with this week's picks around the Ivies and surprise, surprise, the school paper that has had more fun at Dartmouth football's expense the past few years has tossed a bouquet this way. That's progress ;-) From the story:
Last year, we mercilessly mocked Dartmouth for its seeming inability to play a decent game of football
And ...
This one could be close, but the Big Green is a second-half team—it’s outscored its opponents, 62-14, after halftime this season—and Yale’s only two wins came against teams that went a combined 2-19 in 2009. Look for Dartmouth to cement its place as a team to watch in the Ancient Eight.

Prediction: Dartmouth 27, Yale 21.

Over at the Roar Lions Roar Columbia football blog, Jake writes:
Yale really has had Dartmouth’s number in recent years, but really looks like a game the Big Green can win. Take Dartmouth and the (two) points.

The Fearless Forecast and Yale game preview will both be posted on Big Green Alert premium this evening.
