For the first time, the Ivy League Player of the Year will be presented as a part of the festivities surrounding the 53rd NFF Annual Awards Dinner in New York City. The presentation, co-hosted by the Ivy League and the NFF, will take place Monday, Dec. 6, at a special reception and press conference in the Hilton Room of the famed Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The name of the 2010 recipient will not be unveiled until the event; however, the finalists will be unveiled on Tuesday, Nov. 30 on IvyLeagueSports.com.Will Dartmouth tailback Nick Schwieger be one of the finalists? Hard to believe he won't be one of the finalists after leading the Ivy League in rushing and scoring. Does the Big Green's Shawn Abuhoff at least belong in the conversation? Absolutely. He was a member of the first All-Ivy team at two positions (defensive back and return specialist) and was a unanimous choice at one of them (returns).

That there is no clear-cut choice from Penn says a lot about the depth and balance in the Quaker program.*
I kind of like what the Brown Bear Blogger wrote in a comment on Jake's site:What if, like last year, co-winners are named Nick Schwieger and Alex Gross and both streaks ending in one fell swoop.Columbia's Gross was the Ivy League's leading tackler by more than two tackles per game.

Despite not playing Penn dropped from third to fourth, Harvard climbed one spot and once-and-future opponent Colgate fell out of the "also receiving votes" category.

The just-concluded Green Alert poll grading Dartmouth's season closed out just about exactly the way I anticipated. It looked like this:A – 13.3%

Talk about a change in the Dartmouth academic schedule has been growing louder. One of the proposals discussed in the Daily Dartmouth today would have the fall term ending before Thanksgiving. That might very well have an impact on Ivy League football scheduling. Stay tuned.*
A walk-on wide receiver at Harvard named Zar Zavala has been named at Rhodes Scholar. The Harvard Crimson has a story.
