Ho, Ho, Ho, Snow, Snow, Snow

There's a big, big snowstorm coming up the East Coast today and we are heading into the teeth of it in a few hours for a second Christmas with Mrs. BGA's family in Massachusetts. What are you going to do? If the blog goes quiet for a few days, send a dogsled search party out ;-)

10:15 update: Cooler heads (warmer heads?) have prevailed and our trip to Massachusetts has been pushed back 36 hours.
*
A Houston Chronicle story on a quarterback being recruited by Harvard, Dartmouth and Columbia does about as good a job of explaining the Academic Index as you'll find anywhere outside of the Northeast.
*
The New London Day writes about a Connecticut lineman "considering Penn State, Boston College, UConn, Brown, Dartmouth and Columbia."
*
Fosters Daily Democrat has a story about longtime play-by-play man Jim Jeannotte, best known for his work at the University of New Hampshire, but who also spent a couple of years calling Dartmouth games.
*
Back to the Chronicle for a story about how tricky Christmas gift giving can be for a football coach. Hilarious – and thanks for the link.
*
And thanks, too, for the link to a New York Times story built around a study that purports to prove "icing" the kicker with timeouts actually works. Nobody asked me, but I still think there ought to be a rule about how late in the process you can call a timeout.
