More on the Bushnell

Click on the Dartmouth football home page for video of the full announcement in New York City yesterday that Dartmouth's Nick Schwieger and Harvard's Gino Gordon would share the Bushnell Cup.
*
The Ivy League web page has video from the presentation as well as individual interviews.
*
The Sun Chronicle, which covers Schwieger's area of Massachusetts, has a writeup.
*
The Daily Dartmouth, on sabbatical with exams, has posted a web update.
*
The Harvard Crimson has a good lead:
All year long, a pair of running backs dominated Ivy League football. What wasn’t clear, though, was which one stood out as the Ancient Eight’s top tailback.

At season’s end, the debate still isn’t resolved. Harvard senior Gino Gordon shared the Asa S. Bushnell Cup, honoring the Ivy Player of the Year, with Dartmouth junior Nick Schwieger.

The Daily Pennsylvanian has a story about the Bushnell and also has a blog post here. Another DP piece suggests the Penn center would have been a deserving winner.
*
A website called Football Reports Online includes this:
I will admit that one player who was deserving of a nomination was clearly overlooked, but then again I don’t have a vote in the process.
The guess here is that the author of the piece, a New York writer, believes Columbia quarterback Sean Brackett deserved to be among the finalists and it's hard to disagree when you look at his numbers.
*
Jake Novak at the Columbia Roar Lions Roar blog writes:
Let’s hope the Cup goes to one clear cut winner next season, (and preferably one wearing light blue). This year though, Schwieger should have won it alone.
*
The decision to hold the announcement for yesterday as part of the National Football Foundation event made for a nice ceremony, but it didn't result in a bounty of coverage. If there was something in the online New York Times or Boston Globe, I couldn't find it. (That doesn't mean it's not there or in the print edition, but it does mean you've got to go search it out if it is.)

Surprisingly – or not given that the playoffs are under way and the Ivy League champion isn't allowed to go – neither of the main FCS message boards has even a mention of the Bushnell. They are more interested in the playoffs.

Big news in ice hockey as the Yale men's ice hockey team is No. 1 in the nation and the Cornell women's ice hockey team is No. 1 in the nation. The Yale Daily writes about the Bulldogs (10-1, 6-0 ECAC) achieving their first-ever top ranking. men's pollwomen's poll.

And in case those of you "from away" are wondering, they got up to 20 inches of snow in northwestern Vermont over night but here on the mountain we have just enough of a dusting to hide the grass and that's it. There's a possibility we could be in for a real snow storm Sunday but a lot can change before then.
