Tradition?

"Look, there can't be anyone at all who can come up with a solid reason why big-time college football doesn't have a playoff system in place."
Tiger Blog
I can.

Bowl games are a tradition. Playoffs are not. Period.

What's that you say? Tradition is a ridiculous reason to make a decision about playoffs?

Exactly.

Someone ought to tell that to the Ivy League, which has a habit of falling back on the "T" word as one of its excuses for not allowing its football champion to participate in the playoffs while every other Ivy League sport is allowed to go on. Remember that line in the Daily Pennsylvanian story:
Apparently, part of the reason the presidents won’t budge is to uphold “tradition” (in Rodgers’ words).

Speaking of the playoffs, The Sports Network predicts Delaware 38, Eastern Washington 23.

And yes, two-time defending Ivy League champion Penn ... w-i-l-l ... s-t-i-l-l ... b-e ... i-d-l-e.

Did someone say playoffs?

One of the best players Dartmouth faced last fall was Bucknell defensive end Josh Eden. Missed this earlier but the Bison standout who blocked an FCS record eight kicks this year, was the subject of an AP story that showed up in USA Today late in the season. Eden got his hand on two kicks against Dartmouth.
