April Fool Me Once ...

OK, so maybe I was a little overly optimistic bringing the basketball pole out and getting the VW camper on the road last week ;^). The morning paper said the area got up to three inches of snow yesterday but rest assured there was a lot more in some places. Like the shoulder of Moose Mountain where the plow driver earned one more late-season check for clearing our 60-yard driveway.

That being said, I touched base with the football office and as of yesterday afternoon they were still hopeful that they could be on Memorial Field Tuesday for the scheduled start of spring football. With temperatures supposed to reach 46 degrees today and 47 tomorrow – accompanied by abundant sunshine – there will be plenty of opportunity for Mother Nature to finish what the college snow removal crew begins.

The current forecast for Tuesday is a balmy 53 degrees, windy with showers possible.

Be sure to check Big Green Alert for full coverage of spring football.

Dartmouth opens the home season Sept. 17 against Colgate but Memorial Field probably won't look like this post card from the early 1970's that sold last week for $3.25 on eBay.

Congratulations to That Hanover High Junior who learned this week he had made the high school varsity baseball team this spring. And good luck to That Hanover High Grad who makes her switch from all-state softball player to outdoor track athlete official today when she runs the 1500 meters at the appropriately named Snowflake Classic. It's her first outdoor track meet since 8th grade.

And finally, best of luck to Mrs. BGA and the rest of the staff at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center as the hospital throws the switch on its electronic medical records system. (link) She was at DHMC until after I hit the sack last night and was gone again when the (figurative) rooster crowed this morning and that hasn't been unusual the past several weeks. Big, big doings.
