Some SI Memories

Off to Princeton at O-Dark-O'Clock this morning with That Certain Hanover High Junior for the Ivy League Championship Series baseball doubleheader today, and possible rubber game tomorrow.

It's a long trip but there's all kinds of good stuff that comes with going ...

• TCHHJ is a huge Dartmouth baseball fan so it's a treat for him.

• The two of us have never taken what we used to call "Daddy Trips" without his sister. So that's good.

• It gives Mrs. BGA a day and a half with no boys around and the house to herself, a bonus every mother can probably appreciate.

• And I won't lie to you; I enjoy watching the always well-coached Big Green play what I consider "the beautiful game."

Given the hour, I don't have much for you today so I thought I'd point you to an oldie-but-goodie, this SI cover featuring Jay Fiedler. Find the original here.

And as long as the source is SI and the subject is Dartmouth football players, check out this vintage 1993 story on former Big Green and NFL placekicker Nick Lowery.

Sticking with the theme, here's a 2008 video on Reggie Williams' struggle to live with chronic knee problems.

And a 1984 SI story on former Dartmouth and NFL QB Jeff Kemp.

And a 1992 SI piece on Kemp's favorite target at Dartmouth, David Shula.

Coming off a huge win over No. 1 Maryland the Dartmouth women's lacrosse team dropped an 11-10 decision to Harvard in the Ivy League tournament last evening. Story / Press conference video

Dartmouth must now hope its strong regular season and tough schedule is enough to bring an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, something that might have become a little dicier with Princeton's win last night over Penn, the other Ivy co-champion along with Dartmouth.
