Timing Is Everything

Former Dartmouth head coach John Lyons' appointment as defensive coordinator at the University of New Hampshire was timely. Before joining the UNH program Lyons served as the very successful head football coach and athletic director at Kimball Union Academy but news broke this week that the school in nearby Meriden, N.H., has decided to drop the sport. Lyons, who led KUA to Evergreen League championships in 2007, 2008 and 2009, guided Dartmouth to an undefeated season in 1996 and later served as defensive coordinator and interim head coach of the Cologne Centurions of NFL Europe

The Portal 31 New Haven Register Yale football blog takes a look at the Bulldogs' incoming class with a few thoughts from coach Tom Williams. Of Duke transfer Teven Hood, the son of former NFL defensive lineman Eric Swann, Williams said:
... (W)e think he is a legimate big-time football player who can come in and impact us right away. He played in a BCS league and played right away which I think says a lot about him as a player ... "
