QB Headed This Way?

Intriguing news out of the Pittsburgh area where the Panther Digest has a posting about the Pitt Panthers possibly being in the market for a transfer quarterback. One of the names that was floated is that of Alex Park, a freshman at the University of New Hampshire. Here's where it gets interesting. From the thread:
... (T)he staff was in contact with Alex Park, 2010 graduate from Upper St. Clair who went to New Hampshire who was looking to transfer and older brother to Ian Park. I don't know if they offered him but Park opted to transfer to Dartmouth anyway.
Message boards being the modern version of playing "telephone," the story carried over to the UNH Wildcats board, but with no added information. Find that thread here.

There's been no official word out of Dartmouth and Park is still on the UNH roster.

For what it is worth, the 6-foot-1, 195-pound graduate of Western PA power Upper St. Clair HS redshirted for the 2010 season at UNH but showed great promise going 11-for-15 for 146 yards and one touchdown in the Blue-White game last fall. He was 7-for-10 for 70 yards and one touchdown in this spring's Blue-White game.

Find Park's UNH bio here. That page notes he graduated high school with a 3.7 GPA and won the 2010-11 CAA Commissioner's Academic Award this year. Last year's UNH recruiting announcement has more information.

Check out his highlight video here and another video after his final game that shows the respect he had from both his teammates and the opposition. The big fella in the video is his brother Ian, a 6-4, 290 lineman headed to Northwestern next fall.

It's dark, damp and dismal again this morning. Here's hoping it clears up in time for the annual Hanover Center Oldtimers Fair, the highlight of the social season here in the rural outreaches of our minitropolis. If you don't believe me, check out these photos.
