Numbers To Think About

Some interesting numbers . . .

Dartmouth's record against conference opponents in the 55 years since the start of formal Ivy League play:
vs. Columbia 46-8-1, .840
vs. Brown 35-17-3, .676
vs.Cornell 36-19-0, .648
vs. Princeton 33-22-1, .583
vs. Penn 26-29-0, .481
vs. Yale 25-28-2, .481
vs. Harvard 22-31-2, .426
Interestingly, Dartmouth's .840 winning percentage against Columbia is tied for the best record any school has a league opponent with Harvard, which also has an .identical 46-8-1 record against Columbia.

Here's how many conference teams each school has a winning record against since the start of formal Ivy League play:
Harvard 7
Yale 6
Dartmouth 4
Princeton 4
Penn 3
Brown 2
Cornell 2
Columbia 0
Harvard's lowest winning percentage is .519 against Princeton.

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has a story with St. Vincent College head coach Bob Colbert in which he strongly suggests divisions below Division I do it the right way. Colbert, once the youngest college football coach in the country, is in his 42nd year as a college coach and served as Buddy Teevens' offensive line coach at Dartmouth in the 1990 Ivy League championship season and also coached at Cornell and Colgate among others.

The assistant head coach at Game One opponent Colgate says if you are replacing your quarterback you sleep a lot better when you have your entire starting offensive line and the nation's leading rusher returning. He also reminds us it is not exactly a secret what the Raiders like to do on offense. Check out this video that includes comments from a couple of Colgate's big guys up front.
