The weekend wraup with a few pithy thoughts . . .
Yale 37, Cornell 17
In the year of the quarterback in the Ivy League only two of them are really stepping up and they were both in this game. Yale's Pat Witt was 24-for-33 for 246 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions. Cornell's Jeff Mathews was 26-for-36 for 271 yards, one TD and on interception.
Villanova 30, Penn 21
The Penn defense allowed just 16 points but two interception returns for touchdowns spoiled a good effort. The last came with 12 seconds left to end what had been a 23-21 nailbiter. The Philadelphia Inquirer has a story about a decent effort by Dartmouth's next opponent against a city rival that had been struggling.
Albany 44, Columbia 21
The Lions turned the ball over four times with QB Sean Brackett suffering two interceptions and losing a fumble while completing less than 50 percent of his throws (17-for-35 for 176 yards).
Bucknell 34, Princeton 9
Bucknell winning probably shouldn't be a huge shock but the lopsided score is. Still another struggling quarterback is Princeton's Tommy Wornham who threw three interceptions to one TD while going 15-for-33 for 174 yards.
Outside of the Ivy . . .
Towson 42, Colgate 17
The Raiders, playing again without Nate Eachus, remained winless but found another runner in Zauhn Lewis, who gained 144 yards on 34 carries. Quarterback Gavin McCarney was just 14-for-27 with two interceptions.
And from Friday night . . .
Harvard 24, Brown 7
Brown's Kyle Newhall-Caballero was 28-for-52 for 269 yards with three interceptions and one touchdown. The Bears got 207 yards, two touchdowns and one interception from backup Colton Chapple.
