Looking Ahead, Looking Back and Looking Up

Promotion for Saturday's night game is in full swing. At top, a banner hangs across Main Street in Hanover. Below that, a full-page ad in the local daily.

The Daily Dartmouth has a good recap of the loss to Sacred Heart that features some new quotes. Find the story here.

Yesterday's Green Alert premium had a story headlined, Putting The Loss In Context. It doesn't debate that losing to previously winless Sacred Heart was a bad loss, but it does provide some details about the development of the Northeast Conference since the addition of scholarships. It includes this:
The NEC is starting to push people around.
  • Albany crushed Columbia Saturday, 44-21 and won at Yale and Maine last year.
  • Monmouth won at traditional CAA power Villanova earlier this month, 20-9.
  • In 2009 Central Connecticut beat Columbia and Lehigh.
  • Last year Wagner pummeled Cornell, 41-7, and beat Georgetown of the Patriot League.
  • Duquesne beat Bucknell of the Patriot League in 2009 and ’10.
  • Robert Morris knocked off nationally ranked Liberty a year ago.

Your weekly Sagarin ratings, which were pretty volatile this week:
134. Yale (153)
140. Harvard (149)
167. Brown (156)
201. Cornell( 208)
206. Penn (173)
207. Dartmouth (181)
229. Columbia (214)
231. Princeton ( 223)

Non-League Opponents
148. Holy Cross (134)
202. Colgate (188)
232. Sacred Heart (243)

246 teams rated
Green Alert Take: Sagarin was way off on Dartmouth-Sacred Heart, but if he's got this one right Saturday's game should be a doozie.

Tonight on Green Alert premium: The Optimist and The Pessimist

And finally, someone ought to give the person who came up with that banner idea a bonus ;-)
