And Two More

Add a couple of good-sized defensive backs to the Dartmouth recruiting class.

Headed Hanover way are Vernon Harris, a 6-2, 185 safety from Florida powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas, and 6-1, 195 safety Will Konstant from Lyons Township, Ill., who will swell the Chicagoland representation on the Big Green even more.

Harris got his senior season off to a big start with 13 tackles when St. Thomas defeated Prattville on ESPN back on Aug. 27. He's one of a handful of teammates headed to the Ivy League in the fall. From the Sun-Sentinel blog:
According to St. Thomas Aquinas coach Rocco Casullo, five Raiders will send five to Ivy League schools including kicker Nolan Bieck (Princeton), linebacker Cole Champion (Yale), linebacker Tyler Drake (Pennsylvania), quarterback/athlete Max Lescano (Princeton) and defensive back Vernon Harris (Dartmouth).
St. Thomas Aquinas is the school that sent quarterback Dan Shula '06 to Hanover.

There's a brief story about Harris, who has been laser-timed at 4.5 in the 40, here and a Q&A where he talks about his early interest in becoming a Miami Hurricane here. He was chosen for the Public vs. Private All-Star Game (link). Find his Rivals page here.

Konstant had 78 tackles last year including six for a loss. He had five interceptions along with 10 pass breakups and also saw time at wide receiver as well as quarterback in goal line situations. (link)

The Sun-Times writes:
Dartmouth has tabbed Konstant a safety, but he could be moved to linebacker later in his career, given his above-average size.

“They like me at safety, because they like my size,” Konstant said. “They think I could play right off the bat with my size advantage. If it happens, I could put on weight and get bigger.”

Konstant verbally committed to Dartmouth (5-5 overall, 4-3 Ivy League in ’11) shortly after making an official visit. He also visited Penn, Columbia, Dayton and Yale.
Konstant is interested in a career in medicine according to this Q&A.
