Big Guy Having Fun

Because most of us never played offensive line the appeal of line play can be lost on us. Justin Call is a 6-foot-4, 300-pound Colorado offensive lineman headed to Dartmouth and if you watch his highlight video you'll see just how much fun you can have up front if you enjoy knocking people over. No kidding, for about as entertaining an offensive line video as you are going to see, click here.

Here's what The Gazette had to say about Call, a product of Rampart High School in Colorado Springs:
Call was highly recruited -- almost as high as his 4.6 GPA. He received offers from Princeton, Harvard and Penn, but rested on Dartmouth after meeting his Big Green coaches and teammates.

“I mean football is a lot of fun, so why not have fun up there while I’m getting my degree,” said Call, who will be majoring in biomedical engineering.
Call also throws the discus and shot for Rampart.

Speaking of linemen, HTPreps.com of Florida has named Dartmouth-bound Josh Clark of Bradenton Christian to its All-Area football team. From the announcement:
Along with anchoring an offensive line that had a 1,300-yard passer and two 2,100-yard passers, has a 4.36 grade-point average. Will attend Dartmouth.
This is kind of handy if you do what I do: HTPreps has links to stories about the all-area kids. Find links for Josh Clark here.

From the Go Figure department. Yale quarterback Patrick Witt is the only Ivy Leaguer headed to the NFL Combine. Find the full list of invitees here. There's a story (and list) of the FCS players invited at The Sports Network.

One of the most interesting players invited to the Combine is Merrimack (Mass.) linebacker Shawn Loiseau. His head coach at the Division II school? Former Dartmouth offensive coordinator John Perry, who got a mention in a Tampa Bay Times story when his linebacker played in the East-West Shrine Game. From the story about Loiseau:
. . . there may have been 1,134 fans at his final home game, but there were also 27 NFL scouts, coach John Perry said.

Rather than bore you with it again, click here for my "buyer beware" bit about the following list of 31 football players intending to continue their careers at Dartmouth. (Notice the absence of the word recruits? Some of the guys listed below might even be walk-ons. Who knows? Not me.)

The Readers Digest version of my buyer beware: Although this list is culled from the Internet, keep in mind it is culled from the Internet and not from the coaches or any official source. There are heights, weights, positions, spellings and maybe even names that will be corrected over time. Got that?
