LB of Year Finalist To Dartmouth

Wisconsin linebacker of the year finalist
Bennett Goff of Middleton is making his commitment to Dartmouth official today. The 6-foot-2, 210-pound Goff was a first-team all-state, all-regional and all-conference selection in Wisconsin who had offers from Air Force, Navy, Ohio, Wyoming and FCS national champion North Dakota State among others (link). He was offered preferred walk-on status at Stanford, Wisconsin and Minnesota and considered Harvard and Penn in the Ivies. Now if you want to have some fun go back up and check out that highlight video ;-)

Goff slipped through the cracks a bit because a knee injury kept him from attending junior camps that lead to recruiting service attention. Still, the ESPN analyst scouting report on Goff, also listed as a quarterback by Middleton is impressive:
Goff is productive defending both the run and pass; we see good overall playing speed along with a nose for the football. Has the size and athleticism for the outside linebacker position at the major level of competition and it appears his frame is capable of adding body mass . . .
ESPN listed him as the No. 8 recruit in the state of Wisconsin. (link)

Goff was Wisconsin's All-Big 8 linebacker of the year.

If Goff's hometown looks familiar on Dartmouth rosters next fall, it's because he hails from the same town as former Big Green All-America tight end and NFL fullback/tight end Casey Cramer.

His mother is a two-time speedskating Olympian who was on her way to the summer Olympics in the pentathlon until an injury cost her the shot. She's a member of two Halls of Fame. His father played football at Hawaii.
