Greetings From Happy Valley

After 9 1/2 hours driving time we successfully put our '84 VW Westfalia's wheels down – and top up – in beautiful Centre Country, Pa., about 15 minutes from Penn State. The VW drove like a champion. It's a little chilly and gray this morning but it's good to be back in Happy Valley ;-)

Not sure what happened to yesterday's post that explained all this but we are here for Accepted Students Day . . . and not coincidentally Blue-White Weekend. We're heading into town shortly for breakfast at the famed Waffle House (we're saving The Diner for tomorrow), then meeting with Financial Aid to figure out how to pay for a second one in college when we could barely afford the first. Talk about math problems!

From there That Certain Hanover High Grad will meet up with an academic advisor to start thinking about classes in the fall.

Tonight on BGA Premium: A look at the status of the quarterback derby at Dartmouth.

Former Dartmouth linebacker Andrew Dete '09 has a Vox Clamantis opinion piece in the Dartmouth challenging what he perceives to be the premise of current linebacker Garrett Wymore's recent column on the place of the student-athlete in schools like Dartmouth. It would be very interesting to sit around a table with Andrew and Garrett as they debate and find common ground about this issue.

Now off to the Waffle House.
