Saturday Stuff

We have a neighbor who has worked several jobs that require a long drive each day. I used to wonder why he didn't move until the first time I saw the clearing he created a few hundred yards behind his house here on Moose Mountain. I don't wonder why he stays around anymore. Go ahead and click the photo to see a panorama that has to be seen to be fully appreciated. This photo was taken Friday morning.

A Dartmouth release covers the hiring of former Yale player and coach Kyle Metzler as tight ends and offensive tackles coach, former East Carolina player Kurtis von Bargen as video coordinator and assistant director of football operations, and the promotion of former St. Lawrence player Michael Bruno from director of football operations to assistant secondary coach working with nickelbacks.

Find their bios here:

Dartmouth linebacker Garrett Wymore has a very well-written and thought-provoking column looking at the conflicted role of the football student-athlete at Dartmouth under the headline, Through the Looking Glass: Transcending the Hyphen. The piece appeared in the Dartmouth's publication, The Mirror.

With the Boston Marathon set for Monday here's a final chance to help out Alex Jenny '10, who is running the 26.2 miles for a special cause. This is a reprise of the first posting for this worthwhile cause:

Former Dartmouth starting quarterback Alex Jenny '10 is running the Boston Marathon next month in support of Horizons for Homeless Children and is hoping for your support. Alex writes that Horizons is . . .
". . . an incredible organization that assists in the early development of homeless children. The organization does amazing work teaching children vital life skills, and helping the children's families back onto their feet and into permanent housing situations.

Through the introduction by my parents, Chris and Andi Jenny, I became interested in helping Horizons expand their reach and further their impact in the community. I have recently joined their "Young Professionals Group" to help raise awareness among a new generation of potential volunteers and donors.

Walking through their Community Children's Center is truly amazing - all of the children are smiling, playing with toys, painting, doing all of the things that many children take for granted. These opportunities are available to these children thanks to generous donations from individuals like yourself! They truly love the generous, selfless volunteers who spend their days volunteering and caring for the children."
If you would like to help Alex help the kids, you may donate online by clicking the donate tab on Alex's CrowdRise page. Or you can send a check to:
